    Thursday, October 8, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM 

    at Fenway Community Center

    A demonstration of Ikebana—the Japanese cultural art of floral arrangement--by 4th Term Master, Russell Bowers from the Ohara School of Ikebana.  

    Born and raised in Massachusetts, Russell has been a Fenway resident for the last seven years and is a member and active gardener in the Fenway Victory Gardens.   

    He will demonstrate a few forms of Ikebana and provide an overview of the history of Ikebana.  He will also share information regarding opportunities to take classes at the new Fenway Community Center facility.

    Primary Source and the Children's Museum are offering a day for educators to explore how Japan has contributed to world peace since the end of World War II.  

    Anne Prescott from the Five Colleges East Asian Center who has lead several peace education delegations to Japan is the featured presenter.  

    Workshops and panels will address how this topic can be taught into K-8 classrooms and opportunities to involve students in activities to develop friendship and and encourage world peace.
