Learn Japanese

We host a monthly Japanese/English language exchange at our 50 Milk Street location, as well as partner with Showa Boston to teach the Japanese language at all skill levels.

Japanese/English Language Exchange

Each month, the Japan Society of Boston hosts a gathering of native Japanese and native English speakers for a 30/30 language exchange. We begin the evening with a half an hour of speaking in Japanese, followed by a half an hour of speaking in English, and alternate until we hit 7 PM. We hope that our guests will meet others and find new paths for improving and enjoying their Japanese and English language skills.

The Language Exchange takes place between 5PM and 7PM on the second Tuesday of each month at our 50 Milk Street location. Admission is free for JSB members, $5 for the general public, and light refreshments are provided.

Showa Boston

The Japanese Language & Culture Program is intended for adult men and women, including high schoolers, and offers 17-week Japanese courses, experienced native teachers, and Japanese college students as conversation practice partners. There are Spring and Fall courses, and each class meets once a week.
