Based on Mary Stewart’s 1971 classic children’s book The Little Broomstick, Mary and The Witch’s Flower is an action-packed film full of jaw-dropping imaginative worlds, ingenious characters, and the simple, heartfelt story of a young girl trying to find a place in the world.
Mary and the Witch's Flower is the first feature film from Studio Ponoc, a new Japanese animation studio started by many former Studio Ghibli creatives. The American release will be launched with a special premiere event on January 18th, where the film will screen in both English dubbed (ft. Kate Winslet, Jim Broadbent and Ruby Barnhill) and the original Japanese with English subtitles. The January 18th screening will also feature exclusive interview footage with the Academy Award®-nominated director Hiromasa Yonebayashi (When Marnie Was There, The Secret World of Arrietty) and with the Academy Award®-nominated producer Yoshiaki Nishimura (The Tale of The Princess Kaguya, When Marnie Was There).
On Friday, Jan. 19th, the film will then start full theatrical runs at select cinemas. You can watch the trailer here.
