About the event
Since 1954, Godzilla has been King of the Monsters and the Coolidge Corner Theatre is screening some of his greatest creature clashes to illustrate why. See the big guy on the big screen every Tuesday in July!
Godzilla (a.k.a. Gojira) is the roaring granddaddy of all monster movies. It’s also a remarkably humane and melancholy drama, made in Japan at a time when the country was reeling from nuclear attack and H-bomb testing in the Pacific. Its rampaging radioactive beast, the poignant embodiment of an entire population’s fears, became a beloved international icon of destruction, spawning almost thirty sequels.
Coolidge Corner Theatre will be kicking things off with the original 1954 Godzilla on July 2nd with a special seminar by Northeastern Professor Jennifer Cullen! Registration for the seminar portion can be purchased as a package with screening tickets and is available here.
