Join us to discuss the Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu.  We will be discussing Chapter 36 - 41 at this session.  This event will be held on the third Tuesday every month.   You are welcome to read any versions you may have.  Please note that Arthur Waley and Suematsu Kencho editions are incomplete.

On October 25th, we will be discussing  the following six chapters (the translation of the chapter titles are from Royall Tyler's edition):

36. 柏木(The Oak Tree)

37. 横笛(The Flute)

38. 鈴虫(The Bell Cricket)

39. 夕霧(Evening Mist)

40. 御法(The Rites)

41. 幻(The Wizard)

About the Host:

Michelle Kyoko Crowson is an award-winning writer-translator and scholar of Japanese literature. She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon and an MFA from Vermont College. She is currently translating the collected works of the 18th century haikai poetess, Kaga no Chiyo.
