BETWEEN THE LINES:
A Monthly Discussion on Medieval Japanese Women's Literature
THURSDAY, APRIL 6, 2023
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM ET
Hosted online via Zoom
Join us to discuss some of the greatest classics of medieval Japanese literature, written by women authors! In this session, we will begin looking into the Kagerō Nikki, or The Gossamer Years : Diary of a Noblewoman of Heian Japan, by the Mother of Michitsuna.
We will specifically be discussing the translator's introduction and the first book. We will be using the second translation by Edward G. Seidensticker (most recently published by Tuttle).
Find a copy of the Kagerō Nikki here.
The club is limited to Japan Society of Boston Members. Interested in joining but not yet a Member of the Japan Society of Boston? Consider becoming a member today!
This event will be hosted by JSB's Special Events Associate Christopher Ellars.
Notice: We will be taking a break for the months of June and July, but we'll see you back in August!
